Ten questions to ask before hiring a marketing agency in Canada
Hiring a marketing agency is a decision that affects how people see your business. A good choice can save you years of trial and error. A bad one can cost money, time and reputation. These ten questions will help you compare options, including ours, with clarity.
About the work
1. What exactly is included? A clear proposal lists the deliverables, the number of revisions and what is not included. Vague answers usually lead to surprises.
2. How long will it take, and what does that depend on? Honest timelines come with conditions: materials delivered on time, approvals given promptly. Be cautious of promises that sound too fast.
3. Who will work on my account? Ask who your contact person is and who does the work. Knowing it from the start avoids misunderstandings.
4. Can you show me work similar to what I need? Real examples, ideally with the client’s permission to show them, say more than any presentation.
About results
5. How will we measure whether it is working? A good agency talks about goals and indicators before talking about tactics.
6. How often will we review results? Monthly reviews with clear conclusions are a good sign. Reports with no recommendations are not.
7. What happens if something does not work? Every strategy needs adjustments. Ask how the agency handles them.
About the relationship
8. What do you need from me? Good agencies are clear about what they need from you: information, access, feedback and time.
9. Who owns the files, the accounts and the content? Your logo, your social media accounts, your website and your ad accounts should belong to your business.
10. How does the contract work? Ask about minimum terms, notice periods and what happens if you decide to stop.
Answers that should make you think twice
- «We guarantee results.» Nobody can honestly guarantee what an audience will do.
- «You will be on the first page of Google in a week.»
- «Do not worry about the details, we take care of everything.» Transparency is part of the service.
- Refusing to explain how they work or what is included.
